Mattie Playing and Walking

He's Walking!

So, it's been about a week now, and I think it's safe to say Mattie is walking. He walks everywhere, and loves it! He had so much fun walking on the deck this sunny afternoon, and even had lunch with Mom and Dad outside. What a relaxing afternoon!

Sleepy Little Man

Mattie is zonked out from going to the park. He went on a 2 mile walk, watched the kids play on the playground (he wanted to try the baby swings, but they were always full), and pointed at all the dogs and said "dgg". No wonder he is so worn out!

Climbing Fun

Mattie really likes grabbing the holds on the new climbing wall in our garage. He also is fascinated when he sees anyone climb on it, like he is trying to figure out how he can climb it too.

More Firsts!

Mattie crawled around on the ground outside for the first time ever today, and he had a ball! Now, he has touched the ground before, like when I would hold him so his feet would touch, but this was his first time exploring. He actually stayed on the sidewalk too, for some reason the grass seemed intimidating to him, but I'm sure that will change!

Spring!

Finally....nice, sunny weather!

First Steps

So, Mattie has officially taken his first steps. He walked for seven calm, steady steps yesterday! He has been taking three to five steps several times a day for the past couple of weeks, but yesterday all he wanted to do was try walking. Of course I never can capture it on film while he does it! Who knows, maybe he'll be walking in the next few weeks!

The Only Gunks Photo

So, one would think that there would be a ton of pictures from Matt Z. and Matt's climbing trip to the Gunks, but due to either no camera, or dead camera batteries, the two of them managed to take only one picture. Here is Matt Z. at the Trapps on the first day of their adventure. Well, Matt always says that the best climbing trips are the ones that you don't manage to take any pictures.

Mattie just realized that it is fun to ride on his car. He'll put his feet up, and wait to be pushed around. He laughs and smiles so much while he is moving!

Hot Pants

Mattie loves sitting on the registers as the air is coming out. He'll hear the blower in the furnace turn on, and he'll head straight over to a register to "play" with the air.

Mattie has been playing with some plastic eggs that he got on Easter. He figured out how to open them right away, but he has been working on putting them back together. This afternoon he sat still for 5 minutes just trying to figure out how to make the egg whole, and after some trial and error, he did it! He was so proud of himself, he waved the whole egg in the air and had a look of accomplishment on his face. He then went on to take it apart and put it back together several more times. I'm so proud of him!

Mattie's First Easter

"Hey everyone, I'm going to tell you all about my first Easter!"

"I went over to Papa and Nana's house, and I had to pose for pictures right away. I didn't mind though because I had my bath tub toys to chew on that Great Nana gave to me."


"Then, Papa and Nana gave me a fun barn to play with. It makes silly animal noises!"

"Papa made me laugh with his funny faces!"

"Of course I was put in another basket. When are grown-ups going to get the idea that this is fun only to them! Enough already!"

"I had a really cute stuffed bunny, but the doggy Fitzroy decided it was his chew toy. Oh well, I don't mind sharing. "

"Then, Mommy and I went on a walk. I can't wait until I can walk all by myself."

"Finally, I had to put my blue suit on and go home. It is still too cold outside! I'm ready for the spring so I can play in the yard."

The Easter Bunny

Mattie sat on the Easter Bunny's lap yesterday. He didn't really know what to think about it, so he wouldn't smile, but at least he wasn't crying!

"What is all of this? Look, car keys just like Mommy's!"

"Hmm, let me inspect this for awhile."

"Whew, that was exhausting! I'm so glad the Easter Bunny came to my house! Happy Easter everyone!"

"So Mattie, what do you want to do while Daddy is climbing with Matt at the Gunks?"

"Hmm, let me think about it Mom, but I'm sure it will involve some sort of playing."

Mattie enjoyed playing with climbing gear while Daddy got it ready for his Gunks trip next weekend.
