Matthew's First Fishing Trip

Matthew was so excited to go fishing for the first time this morning (as were Mom and Dad to take him :) ). Matt had already showed him some of the techniques at the house but he helped him to apply what he learned to real water.

He doesn't quite have the finesse of casting down-here he had just whacked me in the face with the tip of his rod-I couldn't help but laugh though, he is just too cute when he tries to cast!

This time I got closer so I could help him direct his cast better, and so I was out of the range of being a target.

Matthew would watch Dad fish to make sure he was doing it just like him, he really looks up to Matt.

Yes, I did do some fishing too with Matthew....even though I don't have my license-oops! :)

He was so hopeful to catch a fish.....he didn't know that his lure didn't actually have a hook on it. He still had fun casting it into the water and reeling it back in. He really improved rather quickly and is now a pretty good fisherman (you know, for a two year old :) )

All done, we had to end the morning early due to cold, windy weather. Matthew felt important pulling the wagon with the fishing gear in it all by himself. He is always trying to be so grown up!

Christy,

Maybe you should wear safety glasses around fishing pole use???!
