The Santa Scare

We have been talking to Matthew about sitting on Santa's lap all week-which he has been super excited for and even decided he was going to ask Santa for a "power tool box". So, we took him this afternoon in the hopes that his excitement wouldn't turn to fear-boy were we wrong! We actually got there while Santa was "tending to his reindeer", which was okay, we just hung out and checked out Santa's little house and played with a claw that Aunt Brittney gave him.

Finally, the man of the hour showed up. We saw him coming down the hall so Matthew was able to watch him walk up to his little hut. As soon as he saw him though, he immediately became shy and very unsure of what he was about to participate in.

He watched with trepidation as the child in front of him sat on Santa's lap and got her picture taken. I could tell at this point that there was a very very slim chance that he would actually want to sit on this stranger's lap, but we still gave it a go.

As soon as we carried him over to Santa he got very agitated and wanted to get as far away from him as possible, so we didn't push him, we just took him away saying he was a big boy and we were proud of him and explained to him that he didn't have to do anything he didn't want to and that Santa was still going to bring him presents on Christmas eve. Oh well, maybe next year... :)
