Centerville Firemens' Ice Cream Social

Instead of leaving the day after Ann's shower as was planned, the kids and I decided to stay another day at my Aunt's house to spend time with cousins and attend the ice cream social in Centerville where my grandfather, along with other retired firemen and rescue workers, were being honored.  It was so neat to see him being appreciated for the years and years of his life that he dedicated to the local firestation and the citizens of Centerville.  Plus, it was a fun time to have some of the little cousins see attend.  Matthew, Meredith, Sydney, Christopher, Nathan, Anthony, and Elizabeth all had a blast hanging out with each other.  When we first arrived, the fireman set a car on fire and then demonstrated how they would put the fire out-COOL!

We then watched as my Grandfather had his honorary mention

He is the third from the left in the snazzy shirt and tie :)

Bouncy house!  Meredith was real vocal about wanting to get in, however she never actually worked up the courage to do it when it came down to it, silly girl

Nathan, Elizabeth, Matthew, Sydney and Anthony waiting in line to use the firehose

Anthony showed us how to work the hose like a pro.  His Dad is a fireman though, so I'm sure he's had practice :)

Of course there was ice cream!  YUM!

It was a proud day for my Grandpa and I was so thankful I was there to support him

The boys spotted one of the fire dummies and quickly decided to "beat" it up.  Nathan was the first to jump right on to conquer his victim.  Us adults did find it a little disturbing how quickly the little kids were to gang up on an innocent victim-lol

The fireman demonstrated how they would pull out a person that was trapped under a car

Anthony, Nathan and Matthew-future fireman of America!
